Have not had a Steak that good for a while and cooked to perfection, friendly country pub.
Saturday night dinner. Last minute decision. 4 adults and 2 kids. Arrived and it was mostly empty. The older Publican was awful rude, glaring at us throughout the meal, making a snarky remark about not making a booking. He really brought the whole experience down. It had been 12 months since having time to go out for a meal, and his attitude was awful, he was rude and made everyone feel uncomfortable. He even started turning lights off and closing up at 7.30, clearly didnt want to be there. Clearly didnt want the money made from us, why he works there or gosh forbid owns the place, who knows. Awful shame really, the ladies in kitchen did a great job, made great food. But he ruined the night.
Great little hotel in a little country town. Meals are delicious 😋 until you see the rudeness of the manager and some staff.
Have not been back and won't be until new management take this pub on and make it a place we can enjoy once more …
Visited for a brief moment today and "Pat" the local publican proceeded to be lazy and resilient on doing the simplest of tasks, this is a small country town pub and all those who frequent it know that this bloke is a giant cheesy Weiner that's not been washed under the skin, didn't even know what a Stella was and proceeded to abuse us for asking for the wrong drinks which was completely accidental, and partially his fault, no need for insults implying I pull my own weeny. Not cheesy. Do not visit if you're local, boycott and hopefully he will move on in due time, definitely not welcomed by any locals and definitely hurting the business.
Quaint little pub, great crowd of locals, friendly atmosphere.
However when the publican decides he wants to go home he'll call last drinks and literally push patrons out the door. 30 locals pushed out the door at 9:30pm on a Friday night (last drinks called at 9pm).
Locals say this is a regular occurrence and many have confronted the publican over it saying he has killed the place since taking over. Publican has zero people skills and the personality of a wet dishcloth.
The hotel itself is nice, service with the pub is atrocious, my partner & I waited over 1 hour for a bowl of chips. We where out with quite a few friends, when my partner asked about the bowl of chips we had been waiting for 30 minutes at that time, the response was extremely rude & we where told because they were too busy, I quote “there are other people who order as well”, my friends & partner already had their food delivered to our table & eaten.
I work in hospitality so I understand rushes of people, but there was 3 other family’s after we had ordered. 45 minutes later we asked again, then proceeded to wait another 25 minutes until we got a single bowl of chips. In total 1 hour & 10 minutes wait for a bowl of chips.
Customer service is non existent, verging on extremely rude. If you place a food order make sure your prepared to add a hour on to the estimate time. Never ask
A polite question as simply country manners do not exist. A good deep clean of the bar would maybe get rid of the urine and stale alcohol smell. Totally mind boggling
Great country pub. But if you want a drink there or takeaways, make sure you get there before 6pm any day of the week because they'll be shut! Very rarely open after 6!
